Shakin’ Hips Records is a short run vinyl only record label run out of Silver Spring, Maryland. Leena Jayaswal, owner and operator of the label, has been an avid fan of music since she was young. Her day job as a Professor of Photography and Film at American University, led her to start the label in 2024 when she was the Interim Dean of the School of Communication and had little time for her own creative work.

Shakin’ Hips is unique in that we sign the record and not the band. Our hope is that we are a stepping stone for bands future success. We are just happy to be a small part of the journey and to be a part of the punk rock community. We recently partnered with Morphius Records to keep all manufacturing with local businesses.  

Shakin’ Hips is a minority woman owned record label. Leena loves punk rock, live music, Taco Bell, feminism and her kiddo.
